The study analyses efficiency of external shading device on the western façade of the building, which is completely glazed. The façade is directly exposed to sunlight in the period 12-18h.

First part of the study analyses different shading devices in regard to their effectiveness of blocking direct sunlight but also in regard to access of diffuse light in the interior. Shading devices compared include horizontal blinds (fully or partially covering the openings) and vertical louvres.

Second part is focused on optimal orientation of the louvres (around z-axis), taking in regard both summer and winter period.

Third part of the study analyses optimal spacing of the louvres, with the orientation referenced to previous results. The analysis are done individually for 3 periods during the day: 12-14h, 14-16h and 16-18h.
